Ribble Valley Media – final week of broadcasting.

“It’s a sad week for us here at Ribble Valley Media because – with extreme reluctance – we have to announce that it will be our last week of broadcasting.

“For more than two years, a group of dedicated volunteers has worked extremely hard to try and establish RVM as a permanent fixture in the lives of everyone who lives or works here in the Ribble Valley.

“We sought – via our website and our radio service – to reflect all aspects of life in this truly wonderful part of the North West. Our motto was:  ‘By the community, FOR the community.’

“Alas, for a variety of reasons – some of which have been a surprise to us – we sadly have to close.

“The volunteers who’ve kept RVM going – behind the microphone and behind the scenes – has dwindled to a hard-core. Not enough people, it seems, have wanted to get involved to create a successful community radio station and website.

“That has been a surprise. The Ribble Valley has so much going for it – its beauty, its heritage, its food and drink, its business life, and especially its people – that we believed more of those people would want to get involved.

“Regretfully, that hasn’t happened.

“The costs of running a streaming radio service, equipping the studio and renting space for that studio, are significant and ongoing. Without more people getting involved, or without some sort of financial assistance, the costs cannot be borne by the small number of volunteers still involved.

“A huge thanks to them for trying so hard; and thank-you to those who have listened, contributed and – we hope – enjoyed our programmes.

“So, the final day of broadcasting for Ribble Valley Media will be this coming Friday, 3rd September.

The website will be kept running with news etc

“Thank-you”.
